Christy Arington

Peter Quince (A Midsummer Nights Dream)
Director (Macbeth)

Christy Arington is proud to return with LST to beautiful Benzie county for her 8th summer. She has been seen as Kate in Taming of the Shrew, Calpurnia in Julius Ceasar, The Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, and Mistress Quickly in Henry V (just to name a few). She also directed Alls Well That Ends Well in 2008 and is an educational director for LST. She has worked with many Chicago Theatre companies, a few being, Seanachai Theatre company, Wing and Groove, Tri Arts, Strawdog Theatre Company and The Factory. Having earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Performance from The University of Georgia, Christy has been a teacher for several years both on the collegiate and high school levels. In 2001, she was honored with the Mark Twain Comedic Acting award at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.
Brittany Burch

Fleance, Lady Macduff (Macbeth)
Hermia (A Midsummer Night's Dream)

Brittany is very excited to be working with Lakeside Shakespeare. Her Chicago credits include Carmilla with WildClaw Theatre and Lonesome West with The Gift Theatre. She is a graduate of the School at Steppenwolf and next can be seen in Northwest Highway at the Gift. She would like to thank her family for all of their continual love and support.
Jeff Christian

Previously with LST: As You Like It (director), King Lear (Kent), Love’s Labours Lost (director), Henry V (Chorus, Fluellen, King of France, Ambassador of France), Henry IV (Falstaff), The Merry Wives of Windsor (Falstaff), Julius Caesar (Brutus), Twelfth Night (Malvolio), The Two Gentlemen of Verona (director, Proteus), Romeo & Juliet (Lord Capulet) and the inaugural production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (director, Bottom, Oberon, Theseus).

Film work includes Batman Begins, Witches’ Night, The Express, The Poker House, Pickman’s Muse, Helix, Cyrus and Good People.

Scott Cummins

Director (Macbeth)

Throughout his career, Scott has been involved in over 70 productions throughout the United States either as an actor, director and/or fight choreographer. His recent directing credits include the World Premiere of CARMILLA for Wild Claw Theatre Company. His other Chicago credits include the Midwest premiere of SCENES FROM THE BIG PICTURE for Seanachai Theatre and I’M SPRITUAL DAMMIT by Jenniffer Weigel for Route 66 Theatre. Scott’s directing credits include the Los Angeles premieres of KILLER JOE (Four 2005-Ovation Awards including Best Direction and Best Production as well as Critics Choice LA Times) and BUG (Critics Choice LA Times, LA Weekly, Backstage West among others) both by Tracy Letts with Lost Angels Theatre, AND NEITHER HAVE I WINGS TO FLY as well as THE PAGANS (ADA Award Best Ensemble, ADA nomination Best Direction) both by Ann Noble with The Road Theatre Company, MR KOLPERT (Critics Choice LA Times) and MOONLIGHT & MAGNOLIAS both at The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, BRIGHT IDEAS with Morgan Productions & BOYS’ LIFE at USC. Other Chicago directing credits include MARKED TREE (After Dark Award – direction) and CALAMITY MEAT for Seanachai Theatre, BLOODY BESS (After Dark Award – Ensemble) for Red Hen Productions, MISSING ANGEL JUAN for Powertap Productions & SAWDUST & SPANGLES for Prop Theatre/Powertap. He has acted with such companies as The Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Company, The Next Theatre, Noble Fool Theatricals, The Organic Theatre, Famous Door Theatre, Apple Tree Theatre, Powertap Productions, Strawdog Theatre, The Odyssey Theatre (LA) and Syzygy Theatre (LA) to name a few. He has received two Joseph Jefferson Citations (one for Actor in Principle Role, one for fight direction) and a Jeff Award (Ensemble). He has also appeared in several TV shows and few films…but that’s not important right now. He would like to thank his wife Sabine for her endless love and support.

Previously with LST: As You Like It (Rosalind), Lear (Oswald), Love’s Labours Lost (Princess of France), Henry V (Westmoreland, MacMorris, French Soldier), All’s Well That Ends Well (Countess), Taming of the Shrew (Vincentia).

Other Chicago credits include: The Butler Didn’t at Metropolis and Meet Me In St. Louis at Drury Lane Water Tower.

Sara Gorsky

Helena (A Midsummer Nights Dream)
Witch (Macbeth)

Sara is thrilled to be making her LST debut! She has also had the pleasure to work with such great folks as Wildclaw, The Mammals, Victory Gardens, Strawdog, The Factory, Lifeline and Promethean Theatre Ensemble– where she is a proud company member. This winter she will appear in the Mammals' production of All-Girl Moby Dick.
Matt Kahler

Matt is very happy to be performing with Lakeside for the first time. He has performed in Chicago in The Pirates of Penzance (The Hypocrites), Watership Down (Lifeline Theater), Ren-Faire! A Fistful of Ducats (The Factory Theater), Seven Snakes (The Mammals), The Ghosts of Treasure Island (Adventure Stage Chicago), and many other productions. Regional credits include: Cyrano De Bergerac (Baltimore Shakespeare Festival), The Homecoming (City Theatre), Hamlet, Macbeth, Henry IV-I (St. Louis Shakespeare). You can see him in November in the remount of The Hypocrites' acclaimed production of The Pirates of Penzance at the Chopin Theater.
Shane Kenyon

Shane is thrilled to be making his debut with Lakeside Shakespeare Theatre. Previous Chicago credits Where We’re Born, Sex With Strangers (U/S), Dublin Carol (U/S), Betrayal, Last Of The Boys (Steppenwolf Theatre Co.), Jailbait (Profiles Theatre), Mary’s Wedding (Rivendell Theatre Ensemble), Tallest Man, Sweet Bird Of Youth (The Artistic Home; Ensemble Member), Our Father, Scene’s From The Big Picture (Seanachai Theatre Co.). His Film/TV credits include: The Chicago Code, Dog Jack, and The Kari Files. Shane earned his B.F.A. in Acting from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

Elizabeth Laidlaw is the Artistic Director and Founder of Lakeside Shakespeare Theatre (LST), producing or co-producing every season. Onstage with LST she has appeared as Goneril (King Lear) Jaques (As You Like It) Helena (All's Well That Ends Well) Viola (Twelfth Night,) Marc Antony (Julius Caesar,) Mercutio (Romeo and Juliet,) Silvia (The Two Gentlemen of Verona,) Titania/Hippolyta (A Midsummer Night's Dream, 2003) and various roles in Henry V, Henry IV and The Merry Wives of Windsor. She directed The Taming of the Shrew (2008) and Romeo and Juliet (2004) and co-directed the inaugural 2003 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. She has worked in the professional theatre in Chicago for 18 years. She was the producer of the long-running award winning late night show The Hick, the Spic and the Chick as well as producing 5 seasons of The Crossing Boundaries Playwrights Festival for Strawdog Theatre. Film/TV credits include the feature films Eastern College, Dimension, Three Days and "Turks" for CBS. Her voice can be heard in numerous television commercials, audiobooks, and video games. She received her BFA from Illinois Wesleyan University and holds a certificate from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art of London, UK. Over the years she has taught theatre at the elementary, high school and college levels, including directing and producing the Frankfort, MI Jr/Sr High Drama Club in A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2006.

Lily is so very excited to be returning to LST as Titania in Midsummer and as . Previous LST credits include As You Like It (Celia), King Lear (Foole), Henry V (Katharine, Gower, Ely) and Love’s Labours Lost (Rosaline. Favorite Chicago credits include Romeo and Juliet (Lady Montague, u/s: Nurse and Lady Capulet) at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, This (Marrell) at Theatre Wit and A Twist of Water (Tia) with Route 66 Theatre Company. Lily just started ice skating in January and after surviving a tumble and 8 stitches (on her face!), hopes to by playing hockey by this time next year…
John Mossman

Macbeth (Macbeth)

John is pleased to be returning to LST, where he last appeared in Romeo and Juliet and The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and served as director of their production of Julius Caesar. As a founding member of Chicago’s The Artistic Home, he most recently appeared in the role of Al Manners in Trouble In Mind, and Mr. Antrobus in The Skin Of Our Teeth, as well as the title role in Modigliani, Other notable roles include the title role in Peer Gynt (Jeff Nomination, Chicago Stage Talk Award) , Alan Squire in Petrified Forest, and Quentin in After The Fall., all at The Artistic Home. Regional credits include Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet at the Actors Theater of Louisville, A Walk In The Woods at Madison Rep, and The Quick Change Room at Pacific Resident Theater in LA, Other roles include Chicken in Kingdom of Earth, Dickon in The Scarecrow, Claudio in Measure for Measure, the title role in Tom Jones and the Gentleman Caller in The Glass Menagerie with Celeste Holm. Television and film credits include, The Beast, JAG, and the infamous Models Inc. Co-founder of The Artistic Home, he has directed the acclaimed Juno and the Paycock (Three Jeff Nominations, Four After Dark Awards), Look Homeward, Angel, Clash By Night, Landscape of the Body, The Miss Firecracker Contest, Riders to the Sea, and the noted revival of Inge’s Natural Affection. As a filmmaker, he recently directed the feature film Arms Of An Orphan, as well as numerous award-winning shorts, including the groundbreaking documentary on teens struggling with mental illness, There’s No Such Thing As Crazy. He is the producer of the IFP summer mentorship program, in alliance with Hyde Park Academy and CVCA, winner of two national Emmy Awards, John is currently an instructor at The Artistic Home and the Columbia College film department.
Nick Sandys

Fight Director

Nick is delighted to be working with LST for the first time, as well as with friends old and new. He is a Fight Director and Certified Teacher with The Society of American Fight Directors, and his combat choreography has been seen at theatres all over Chicagoland : including Goodman Theatre (over 25 shows, including premiers of "Stage Kiss," "Gem of the Ocean," and the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Ruined"), Lyric Opera of Chicago (over 30 operas), Northlight ("Lieutenant of Inishmore," "Lady"), Steppenwolf ("Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," "Hot L Baltimore," "The Seafarer"), Shattered Globe ("Requiem for a Heavyweight"--2008 Jeff Award for Fight Choreography), Victory Gardens ("The Defiant Muse"--2008 Jeff Nomination), Remy Bumppo ("Les Liaisons Dangereuses"--2010 Jeff Nomination), Lookingglass ("Around The World in 80 Days"), Eclipse, Timeline, Noble Fool, Silk Road, Oak Park Festival, and at The Theatre School at DePaul University where he has taught since 1995. He has also choreographed violence at The Metropolitan Opera ("Il Trovatore" 2009) and regionally at Kansas City Repertory, Baltimore CenterStage, Portland Opera, Florentine Opera, Indiana Repertory, Dallas Theater Center, Ft. Worth Shakespeare in the Park (14 seasons), and Dallas Shakespeare Festival, among others. As an actor, he has appeared with numerous Chicago area theatres, including Remy Bumppo (Artistic Associate), First Folio Theatre (Artistic Associate), Goodman Theatre, Northlight, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Lookingglass, Writers' Theatre, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Light Opera Works, Marriott Lincolnshire, Chamber Opera Chicago, Irish Repertory, and Next Theatre, his acting having been nominated six times for Joseph Jefferson Awards.

Noah has spent the last 15 years as a professional actor in Chicago. He holds a BA in Theater from Butler University and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Acting at The Theatre School at Depaul University.

This marks Josh’s first performance with Lakeside Shakespeare and his first professional performance in a Shakespeare production. Josh works as a professional voice-over actor and puppeteer and is the Artistic Director of HOBO JUNCTION PRODUCTIONS in Chicago.
